Historia - History and Culture
What is Historia? Well, “Historia” is the Latin word for history. The word contains more meaning that our definition of the word “history” in English. It does mean “a narrative of past events.” It also means “a narrative, account, tale, story.” For me history has always encompasses the full meaning of this Latin word. It is the story, the tale, of the human race. It includes the stories of the great men and women of the past, great deeds and great ideas. It is also the tale of the rice farmer in China, the cattle herdsman in Africa, the Roman soldier, the English peasant. It is the story of us all. That is what Historia will attempt to look at. The story of us all. It will feature history, literature, the arts, religious ideas, secular ideas, all of those things that make us human and that tell the story of humanity. It is my wish that as we learn about the many histories and cultures of the past and the present we can find a way to come closer together.
